Kung Fu elbow methods include horizontal, ascending, descending, and diagonal strikes, all driven by waist and whole body rather than just the arm alone.  Using these strikes, vulnerable targets – the head, solar plexus, nose, or collarbone – are commonly struck or trapped at close range using the flat part or point of the elbow.  A steady stance, appropriate body mechanics, and the use of the opposite hand for balance and defence against counters are essential for effective execution.

To be conducted by SiGung Richard, in this workshop you will learn:

  • Elbow strikes delivered with a sweeping motion, inward or outward
  • Axe-like elbow blows from a higher position aimed at the forehead or collarbone
  • Diagonal elbow strikes, effective for cutting an opponent
  • Spinning elbow generated through full body rotation, using the rear elbow
  • Upward elbow strikes targeting the chin or solar plexus
  • Spear elbow, a defensive method using the elbow tip to block and strike simultaneously

Elbows are a powerful close-range weapon, especially when an opponent’s arms are controlled.  In confined spaces they can trap an arm and create openings for counter-attacks.

Join this practical workshop and learn new techniques or sharpen your close-range skills while building confidence in your martial arts practice.  Get in quick as participants numbers are strictly limited.
