Foundations of Tai Chi Workshop – Feedback

Foundations of Tai Chi Workshop – Read the feedback below. It was emphasized that although the techniques were called “Basic” the emphasis was on “Foundation”.

Foundations of Tai Chi WorkshopFoundations of Tai Chi Workshop was conducted by Si Gung Charles on the 30th of April. Correct Tai Chi techniques are the foundation of our Tai Chi and the workshop was beneficial for students learning, the basic elements right through to more advanced students.

Some of the elements practiced at the workshop were:

  • The Bow
  • Opening and closing stances
  • Hand & arm shapes
  • Hold the ball
  • Stances, including Bow Stance, One Leg Stance and Crouch Stance
  • Forward and Backward walking with attention to stepping

New students were able to gain more insight into these foundational techniques and advanced students were able to build on the foundations they had practised for some time.

Comments from new students who attended were:

“It was good to consolidate what I have learnt so far and have a chance to practice it”

“It helped me to confirm some of what I already know and identify small techniques that I had missed in class”

Comments from the more advanced students who attended were.

“It was great to rebuild on the foundations that I have already”

“It’s good to be reminded of the little details in techniques that we sometimes forget”

“I have been to a workshop like this before but I always learn something new every time”

By having us work in small groups, each with an instructor, we all got the instruction and assistance we needed to make this a very enjoyable and profitable experience.  The workbook was great too and should be a tool that all Tai Chi students have at hand on their Tai Chi journey.
